Sorry it's been so long!!

I have been computer-less for quite some time now. My ac adapter broke and the battery died! But i am back! Sadly to say not with to much to say. Work has been great. I have definitely felt like I've grown and flourished even in the past few weeks. It's really quite crazy! I feel like I care more about what I am doing. Josh, our new chef and Aina, my sous chef really make me feel like my opinion matters and let me in on menu creation and kind of let me do my own thing when it comes to laying stuff out and dessert! I have had my fair at dessert the past few weeks and it's great. I made my first baked alaska for last nights bruins game and it came out great. I want to try different versions with my own homemade icecream and different cakes and such at home. School has been tough, getting up early is beginning to take it's toll. When we move things will get better. I wont have to wake up so early. I just keep telling myself it's only one year!! I can do it! So, back to the good stuff. I am enclosing a few picture of some of the work I have been doing so definitely let me know what you think. I will post more as the days go on! x's and o's everyone!

More wonderful fall!

Today started off not so promising. I woke up at 4:30 am to go to school and it was frippin freezing! I had to wear a scarf my ears were so cold. Then I sat through 5 hours of class. But when I went out, back in to the world (I do feel like I am in another realm when I'm in school, there's no windows) it was the most perfect fall day. I scurried to my car and called breyanne (fellow foodie, crafter, geek) to let her know I was on my way for our fun fall filled afternoon. Of course, it being boston I was coming from I hit traffic on the way to her but it was ok I eventually made it to Starbucks in Haverhill, changed and met brey. I was starving so I decided to get one of the delicious oatmeals starbucks now offers (definitely try it, it's well worth it) I also got a tea. After we left starbucks we headed to a couple stands and then to Barker's Farm. I have driven by this farm/farm stand/orchard a billion times and always say, "i'm gonna stop there!" but I never do. To my satisfaction Brey had already gone there in the beginning of the week and knew they had pick your own...wait for it...flowers!! they were $.25 a stem. I bought $2.00 worth! They were so gorgeous. And it was cheap and fun! After barker's we headed to a lil farmer's market/garden shop in Boxford that brey and I have frequented. They had the most beautiful squash. I wanted to buy them just because they were pretty. But what I had my eye on was cut your own herbs. $1.25/ounce. I bought more herbs than I need it was still less than $1.00. The rosemary was absolutely beautiful and could not be passed up! Same with the thyme! Brey gave me a little goodie bag with parsley, sage and hot peppers so I didn't pick any of that! Brey got some pretty mums and we both decided to get little cute baby ghords! They had the funkiest colors and shapes, like nothing I have ever seen. after that we headed back to star bucks to get my car and talked of corn mazes and getting lost forever! We seriously know how to have a kick ass time! We are going halfies on a case of 4 oz canning jars so I am sure the both of us will be canning like crazy so keep an eye out for recipes and such! The weather today was so absolutely perfect it couldn't have been told better in a story! I have attached some pictures of the flowers, I will post ones of the ghords and the herbs manana. Oh, I love fall and I love New England!

Back to work!

New school, new season, new year, new chef!! Yup, went back to work today. No biggie, pre-season bruins really slow, but I did get to work with my new chef for the first time. He's really nice. Has a lot of crazy ideas which is good, I hope I learn a lot of new stuff from him. It seems like I learn more at work than I have at school! Today I made Citrus-almond olive oil cakes. Which sound delicious but I would not know because I can not eat almond! HAHA! I also helped Al get the pizza station together. We had a King Crab Roll Pizza with arugula, blueberry and cilantro, a margarita pizza with vodka cream sauce and mint and basil chiffonade, a crispy potato pizza with saffron creme fraiche and a smoked rabbit crepe with caramelized onion and fig jam. Josh (the chef) is definitely very creative. I guess we will see how the season goes. Everyone seems to like him. Tomorrow I am going to make pulled pork sandwiches with apple slaw for the football game. I am excited.  Oh by the way, this happened like a week ago but for all you boston red sox fans you will know who wally the green monster is. (he is our big green mascot) Now everytime I go to shaws (supermarket) I see this 8ft inflatable Wally in the produce section and always lust over how I wish I could have one. It was $70 and I just couldnt bring my self to spend that sort of cash. So about a week or so ago I was walking through shaws with al and they were raffling one off for charity. I literally had $15 to my name and had to get through the next few days but al talked to me into putting $1 into the raffle. As I gave the ticket to the lady she said "it only takes one to win!"
and wouldnt you know two days later I was on break at school and I got a message from Shaws saying I had won the wally!! i was sooooo excited! So now I have an 8ft tall wally in the box just waiting to be blown up! I am going to wait until we move to blow him up but i was so stocked! Well, I am going to lay down I will talk to you guys soon!
